The National political conventions are over. Gracias a Dios. What an incredible waste of time and what a shameful display by both political parties. I found the events disturbing and the choices even more depressing.
Let’s take the last one first. The Democrats have nominated a person who is probably the most corrupt, untrustworthy, worn out phony that could be imagined. I find no redeeming qualities in Mrs. Clinton and her now ultra-liberal views of big government, free lunch, social engineering, race baiting, nanny state appalling. Karl Marx is only one step removed from the party platform she represents. I can see no reason why anyone would ever vote for her. Better to leave the office e vacant.
As far as the Republicans, it would be hard to imagine a more disagreeable blowhard than Mr. Trump. His idea of leadership seems to be picking fights with the minority, religious flavor of the day. He just does not seem to get it that some sort of political strategy involves more than saying is he responsible for building some building somewhere that no one cares about. As we like to say, this is what you have done to yourself.
I have been wrong about Mr. Trump from the beginning as have many others by saying there is no way he could get the nomination. I would bet that when he started out he never believed he would be the nominee. The quest was just an ego trip for the next television gig or the next book that he would have ghost written. It is a train wreck that is hard to watch.
I am asked all the time if Mr. Trump can win. In spite of the massive baggage of Mrs. Clinton, I can see no scenario where Mr. Trump is not all but annihilated in the election.
Case in point. I was talking to the garage manager where I park my car in the mornings. He is from Central America, been in the U.S. for many years, is a citizen, a Republican and does not like Mrs. Clinton, not at all. He told me this morning that “Trump is finished”. He will not vote for Mrs. Clinton but thinks Trump is just “plain stupid”. A bellwether if I have even seen one.
There are about 100 days before the election. Things could change. Mistakes can be made. Moments can be had but this is shaping out to be so ugly, so void of any constructive dialogue. Sure mainstream media covers up for the Clintons, drubs Trump at every opportunity but still what is going on here. In the end, the country will be what is deserves and that is sad and as I said depressing and disturbing.
No matter who wins, the country will be divided. I cannot see either person bridging this divide.
I do not feel better venting and speaking candidly. I usually try to bring a more informed view but goodness gracious.
Nice article
