Another day over and deeper by $3 billion more in debt. There may be the makings of a song somewhere. In any event, the countdown continues. The House voted yesterday and in true non-bi-partisan fashion passed a Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government at current levels until December 15, deleting funding for implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
Democrats and Republicans wag their fingers at each other. Good stuff. It was like a child, saying, “I know you are but what am I?” Hard to make this kind of stuff up
The President in his radio address continued to whine, moan and castigate the Republicans. I would not expect anything else from him. He will just take his marbles and go home.
As I pointed out defunding of the ACA is a bit of a ruse and more symbolic because the mandatory entitlement portions of the law are not effected by cutting off yearly funding. I think I see Speaker Boehner out there attacking a windmill with Sancho Panza.
In any event the ACA is doing what the liberals intended it to do—expand the government role in health care and eliminate employer sponsored plans.
The battle goes over to the Senate now. Republicans can get their vote and licks in. The President will be golfing and campaigning no doubt, tin ear to the real consequences of a broken law.
